Sensex In Negative Zone; Sterlite Ind Slips 10.34%

The 30-share index BSE Sensex continued to trade weak on account of sustained selling Sensex In Negative Zone, Sterlite Ind Slips 10.34% action seen in the metal stocks followed by oil & gas, power and banking stocks.

Midcap index fell 0.27%, whereas Smallcap surged 0.07%.

Today, the BSE Sensex opened after losing 183.23 points at 14,717.53.

At 12:54 p.m., the 30-share index Sensex stood at 14,803.53, down 97.23 points, after hitting a high of 14,866.32 and a low of 14,714.52.

In the meantime, the broad based Nifty lost 23.25 points at 4,445.45, after touching a high of 4,467.50 and a low of 4,416.95. (12.54 p.m.)

The overall market breadth was pessimistic as it saw 1,045 progressions as against 1,363 declinations.

The major gainers in the 30-share index were ACC, which gained 1.53%, Hindalco Industries surged 1.23%, Wipro earned 1.23%, State Bank Of India zoomed 0.78%, Jaiprakash Associates climbed 0.73% and Infosys Technologies gained 0.62%.

On the other hand, Sterlite Industries (India) was the major loser, which lost 10.34%, Tata Steel fell 3.53%, Tata Power Company declined 2.90%, ICICI Bank plummeted 2.15%, Maruti Suzuki India lost 1.79% and Reliance Industries fell 1.67%.
