Sensex Lacklustre; Down 155.57 Pts
The stock markets continued to trade on a dull note owing to continued selling pressure witnessed in frontliner stocks.
Metal and auto stock were in limelight, while power, realty, IT, banking and PSU stocks remained down.
BSE Midcap index dropped 0.33%, whereas Smallcap index was up by 0.05%.
Today, the 30-share index, BSE Sensex belled the day on a positive note at 15,218.83, up 27.82 points.
At 02:49 p. m., Sensex lost 155.57 points to trade at 15,035.44. It also hit a high of 15,234.21 and a low of 14,955.88. In the meantime, the broad based Nifty stood at 4,458.15, down 44.10 points. Nifty touched a high of 4,524 and a low of 4,436.60.
The major gainers' list included Maruti Suzuki India, which gained 1.97%, Tata Steel up 1.87%, HUL surged 0.32%, and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries zoomed 0.04%.
On the other hand, the top losers' were TCS, which dropped 4.60%, Sterlite Industries (India) down 3.11%, Tata Power down 3.10%, DLF dipped 2.98%, ACC declined
2.90%, and BHEL fell 2.75%.
UK`s benchmark index FTSE 100 surged 25.17 points to trade at 4,468.52. French benchmark index CAC 40 gained 25.08 points to trade at 3,295.76 and Germany`s benchmark index DAX climbed 35.80 points to trade at 5,066.61. (3 p. m., IST)
