Sensex Gains 50 Pts; Hero Honda, Tata Motors Surge

Sensex Gains 50 Pts To 18,070.26The 30-share index Sensex gained 50 points after the country's central bank (RBI) announced its quarterly credit plan.

Indian equities responded positively to RBI's Credit plan, however, with mild gains.

The Sensex, which remained pessimistic during the opening trade by 31 points, regained 50.21 points to 18,070.26 at 1:00 p. m.

Even, Nifty, which was trading steadily in morning session, gained 19.70 points to 5438.30.

Among the sectoral indices, Realty, Auto, Teck, IT, Bankex and Oil and Gas backed the stock market.

The gainers on the Sensex included Hero Honda (2.60%), Tata Motors (2.10%), ACC (1.86%), DLF (1.65%) and M&M (1.65%).

The shares, which remained under selling pressure, included L&T (-3.68%), BHEL (-0.63%), Jindal Steel (0.55%).

The central banking institution has lifted up the repo rate by 25 bps to 5.75% from the existing 5.5% and increased reverse repo by 50 bps to 4.5% from the subsisting 4%.

The CRR remained unaltered at 6%.

RBI has heightened GDP growth projection to 8.5% from 8% and inflation projection up to 6% from 5.5%. (With Inputs from Agencies)
