The 30-share index Sensex gained more than 130 points during morning trade within minutes of opening bell.

The Sensex, which belled the week at 18,124.29, stood at 18,352.68 after surging 131.25 points (0.72%) as against its last closure at 18,221.43 on Friday.

At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broad-based Nifty surged 0.73% to trade at 5,519.1.

Broader markets indices also showed good buying interest, with the BSE midcap gaining 0.87% and the BSE smallcap index remained up by 1.04%.

The stocks from metals, IT, real estate, telecommunication were in public interest.

On Friday, the BSE Sensex ended the week at 18,221.43 after shedding 16.88 points, while the Nifty closed the week after declining 0.12% at 5,479.4.

Metal, and energy stocks witnessed huge selling, while realty, auto and healthcare stocks remained up.

The overall breadth of the stock market on Friday was optimistic as it saw 1,661 progressions as compared to 1,246 declinations.
