Sensex Down On Profit BookingIndian equities lost their strength and fell into the depressing zone because of heavy profit booking.

IT, consumer durables, realty stocks gained ground, whereas oil & gas and banking stocks went down.

BSE Midcap and Smallcap index surged 0.20% and 0.61% respectively.

The 30-share index BSE Sensex, today, opened with a gain of 300.05 points at 10,931.17.

In the previous day (Tuesday, Nov 4) session, the Sensex closed the day after gaining 293.44 points, while the NSE Nifty zoomed 98.25 points.

At 11:04 a.m., Sensex lost 24.54 points at 10,606.58 after hitting a high of 10,945.41 and a low of 10,544.44.

In contrast, the broad based Nifty stood at 3,113.00, down 29.10 points, after touching a high of 3,240.55 and a low of 3,110.50.

The overall market breadth was positive as it saw 1,221 progressions as against 852 declinations.

Major gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Consultancy Services (5.47%), HDFC Bank (2.74%), Mahindra & Mahindra (2.05%), Wipro (2.00%), DLF (1.88%), and Maruti Suzuki India (1.87%).

The major losers list included Reliance Industries (6.34%), Reliance Communications (5.79%), Bharti Airtel (2.66%), Ranbaxy Laboratories (2.39%), ACC (1.86%), and Tata Steel (1.61%).
