Sensex Down 47.08 Pts; Nifty At 6,179.30
The 30-share index Sensex is still trading in a dreary mood amid volatility owing to aimless market.
Scrips from consumer durable, healthcare and power segment remained marginally up, whilst IT, banking and real estate scrips witnessed selling pressure.
At 12:52 p. m., the Sensex lost 47.08 points to trade at 20,496 and the broad-based Nifty was down by 7.15 points at 6,179.30.
Today, the BSE Sensex belled the day on a flat note at 20,544.30, up 1.22 points, whereas the Nifty began the day after declining 35.50 points at 6,150.95.
In the meantime, food inflation dropped slightly to 16.24% for the week ended 25th September, on slight easing of supply side pressures, even as rates of cereals, fruits, select veggies and milk remained up.
The top gainers in the Sensex pack remained Tata Power, Reliance Communications, Hindalco Ind Ltd, ACC, Bharti Airtel and Hero Honda Motors Ltd.
The major losers in the 30-share index were Housing Development Finance Corporation, Mah & Mah, Tata Steel, Infosys Tech, ICICI Bank and ITC.
The BSE Midcap index gained 0.91% and the BSE Smallcap index was up by 0.87%.
Among sectoral indices, the Consumer Durables index remained up by 67.32 points; the HC index surged 60.10 points; the Power index zoomed 21.62 points.
In contrast, the IT index declined 25.07 points to trade at 6,084.87.
