Sensex Crosses 10K Level; Up 291.58 Pts

Sensex Above 10K Level; Up 291.58 PtsIndian equities are trading higher on the back of continued buying interest witnessed in a host of blue chip stocks.

The Sensex bounced back to 10,025.80 now, after registering a handsome gain of 291.58 points, while the broad-based Nifty has posted a gain of 100.85 points at 2993.50.

A sharp rise in infrastructure sector output has actuated some buying in today’s session. The improvement on the Asian stock markets and a positive mood in US index futures have also added to the rise in stock prices this afternoon.

All the sectoral indices are trading in the positive terrain at the moment. However, the Auto index is up just marginally over its previous closing mark.

BSE Oil & Gas gained 4.15% on account of strong gains recorded by Reliance Industries and PUS oil majors such as HPCL, BPCL and Indian Oil Corporation.

The Metal index has advanced by 4%, while BSE Power gained more than 3%. The PSU barometer is up with a gain of over 3%. The Realty index has gained 2.67%. BSE CG, FMCG, Teck and IT are up by 1.4% - 2%.

The pharma index BSE HC zoomed nearly 1%, and the Bankex climbed 0.85%. The Consumer Durables barometer has gained 0.6%.

At the same time, the major gainers list include Hindalco, which has spurted 10.6% to Rs 62.70, Reliance Infrastructure climbed 7%, Jaiprakash Associates, Reliance Industries and Tata Consultancy Services zoomed more than 4%.

NTPC, Wipro, Reliance Communications, Tata Power, Satyam Computer Services, HDFC, ACC, Sterlite Industries, DLF, HDFC Bank, ITC, ONGC, Larsen & Toubro, Infosys Technologies and State Bank of India have gained 2% - 4% now.
