Sensex Up 75.70 Pts; Nifty At 5293.60
Indian equities continued their positive run for the eighth day today.
The 30-share index Sensex was trading positively owing to heavy buying action witnessed across frontliners.
Scrips from capital goods, consumer durable and oil & gas sectors were in limelight.
Both Sensex and Nifty were trading above 1-month high.
At 10.13 a.m., the Sensex, which belled the day on a flat note after surging 11.33 points, stood at 17,692.39, up 75.70 points. In the meantime, the Nifty was trading up by 18.75 points at 5,293.60.
The major gainers in the 30-share index included RCom, Jindal Steel & Power, Larsen & Toubro, Hero Honda, RIL, Infosys Technologies, SBI and Tata Power Company
In contrast, ICICI Bank, Sterlite Ind, Wipro, Maruti Suzuki, Cipla and Hindalco Ind were the top losers in the Sensex.
The BSE Mid and small cap indices gained 0.45% and 0.58% respectively.
Among sectoral indices, the Capital Goods index gained 129.27 points followed by the Oil & Gas index, which surged 85.84 points and the IPO index rose 14.82 points.
On the other hand, the Bankex index declined 14.34 points.
