Second Twin Born 18 days after Identical Brother
Identical twins, Link and Logan Gorveatt, will have different birthdays. According to doctors, the babies have same DNA, but their birth dates will be different as the second baby was born 18 days after the first one.
The Gorveatt family wrote on its fundraising site that Link Gorveatt took birth on September 29, while Logan was delivered this week. The identical twins became talk of the town earlier this month due to their unusual delivery.
Holli Gorveatt, mother of Link and Logan, went into labor last month due to the twins’ weight on her cervix. After examining Holli’s condition, doctors at Evergreen Health Medical Center chose to deliver one baby.
While talking about the first delivery, Dr. Martin Walker, a fetal medicine expert at Evergreen Health Medical Center, said that the first baby, Link, had just a few chances of normal development at delivery, but every day that the second twin, Logan, spent in utero meant chances at normal development.
In a statement earlier this month, Dr. Walker said the second baby will be bigger than first one. Growth in utero is better than growth in the neonatal intensive care unit, the doctor added.
According to Holli, her second baby, Logan, was born on Saturday after medical officials worried she could develop signs of infection. “Logan arrived at 1:53am. He weighed 740grams. When he was born he had the cutest tiny cry”, Holli said in an online post.
Dr. Walker said that the first baby is also developing well.
