Scotland Yard's investigation credible: US

Washington, Feb 9: former Pakistan premier Benazir BhuttoThe United States has described the Scotland Yard's investigation into the killing of former Pakistan premier Benazir Bhutto as "credible".

"Certainly, I understand that this is an emotional issue both for members of her family as well as many people in Pakistan who supported Benazir Bhutto. In terms of the investigation itself by the Scotland Yard, we view this as a credible investigation by independent outside experts," US State Department spokesman Tom Casey said.

Defending Scotland Yard investigation, Casey said: "I leave it to them to talk about both the conclusions that they have drawn as well as the limitations on some of the evidence they had on some of the evidence to view. But we don’t have any reason why we would question the validity of their assessment."

"It is important for people to feel that they have a clear understanding of what happened but said the US is not proposing anything particular in respect of any review," The Nation quoted Casey, as saying.

"We are not proposing anything particular though, I think it would be up to the Pakistanis to decide whether they felt they needed more review or investigation," he added. (ANI)
