Einride to add 150 Peterbilt 579EV electric semi-trucks to its U.S. fleet
Marking a significant move for sustainable logistics, Swedish transport company Einride AB has placed an order for 150 of Peterbilt’s battery-powered 579EV semi-trucks. Known for its “Freight Capacity as a Service” model, Einride is offering a low-risk way for business entities to transition to eco-friendly, zero-emission transportation. Its latest deal, which marks Peterbilt’s biggest electric semi sale, aims to revolutionize zero-emissions commercial transportation in North America.
Einride has been operating semi fleets in several countries of the world at a large scale since the year of 2020, setting a new standard for providing eco-friendly logistic services along the way. The newly ordered Peterbilt electric semi-trucks will serve the company’s North American customers.
Niklas Reinedahl, General Manager (GM) for Einride’s North American business, said in a statement that he was proud to announce the partnership with Peterbilt and Rush Peterbilt Truck Centers as it would allow them to offer a market leading service.
In the newly-released statement, Reinedahl said, “We are proud to announce this partnership with Peterbilt and Rush Peterbilt Truck Centers as we combine our technology platform with their premium hardware to provide a market leading offering as we collaborate on the future of electric freight.”
The senior executive went on to state that bringing new technology to market was imperative to enable the transition from conventional ICE freight operations to electric freight operations.
For his part, Peterbilt GM Jason Skoog described the company as a “leader” in the field of commercial vehicle electrification. Claiming that Peterbilt is offering the most complete lineup of EVs in the industry, he stressed that the company’s focus on developing and offering reliable zero emissions solutions enabled it to electrify end-user fleets and reduce carbon emissions.
A Peterbilt 579EV class 8 semi-truck boasts a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 82,000 pounds. It is capable of churning out a peak power of 670 hp (536 continuous), thanks to its robust electric motor. Its 400-kWh battery can store enough energy to offer a range of 150 miles, and it takes roughly three hours to get fully recharged using a DC fast charger.
Einride’s order for 150 of Peterbilt 579EV semi-trucks represents a major push towards sustainable freight transport. The blend of Peterbilt’s EV technology and Einride’s innovative logistics platform promises not only to enhance the efficiency but also to lower impact of logistics on North American environment.
