SBI Launches Travel Smart Cards

SBI Launches Travel Smart CardsSBI and Bangalore Metro have given its travelers a new gift of Near Field Communication (NFC) debit cards specially meant for travelling to the Metro stations. With this smart card, the travelers will not have to carry any cash with them.

These cards are transferable and anyone can use it. The NFC chip will be used to trap the check-in records at all the metro stations.

C Narasimhan, Deputy Managing Director (corporate strategy and new businesses) SBI, adds, “The card consists of an e-purse facility to store money for travel in Namma Metro. The e-purse can be topped at the nearest ATM or through mobile banking (SBI Freedom) or internet banking apart from cash”.

The features of the card are not just limited to travelling only because the person can also use the card as an ATM and can also do lots of shopping.

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) Managing Director, N Sivasailam, commented that very soon other banks will also provide the same services. City bank in Delhi is also planning to have these smart cards.

Along with these smart cards, BMRCL also announced that they will be completing all their pending works related to the Namma Metro project but the progress of the project all together tells a different story.
