To Save ‘Deshdrohi’, Kamal Khan Moves To HC
Controversial film producer Kamal Khan has decided to file an application on Saturday in Bombay High Court against the ban of his film, Deshdrohi.
The Maharashtra government has banned the movie on Wednesday, as it claimed that that it would cause law and order problems in the state.
The government has banned the movie under Section 6 of the Bombay Cinema Regulation Act, 1963. The ban would be effective for two months.
According to the media reports, the movie features a North Indian character played by ‘Khan’ himself, who is at the receiving end of Marathi chauvinists, who ask him to return home.
However, it has turned very controversial following the campaign started by MNS leader Raj Thackeray against the North Indians staying in Mumbai city.
Meanwhile, Lok Janshakti Party leader and Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan questioned the banning of the film in the State despite getting Censor Board clearance.
While lecturing at press conference, Paswan said, “What is the harm in screening the film? It has got clearance from the Censor Board. No other State has banned it.”
