Saudi authorities award contract to Sikorsky to upgrade Black HawkAccording to the official reports, Saudi Arabian defense authorities have awarded a contract to Sikorsky Aerospace Services to upgrade the country's Black Hawk helicopter fleet.

It will provide modernization services on the Saudi military's UH-60A model Black Hawk helicopters in line with the company's Helicopter Recapitalization and Upgrade Program, U. S. Company Sikorsky has said.

It was further reported that the modernization program upgrades the UH-60A variant to Sikorsky's new UH-60L aircraft configuration, which integrates engine, flight controls and avionics improvements.

David Adler, Sikorsky Aerospace Services president, said in a statement, "This conversion program will modernize the current Saudi fleet and allow for better commonality and integration with its newly acquired fleet of UH-60L aircraft."

The report also revealed that additional improvements to the Black Hawk fleet include equipping the helicopters with the new Aircraft Flight Control Computers among other advances. (With Inputs from Agencies)
