Samsung's ‘Star’ sets new records of sales

samsungSamsung Star or S5230, the popular touch screen mobile phone introduced by leading mobile manufacturer, Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd, has scaled new milestones, touching the 5-million sales mark for the current month. The model, launched in May this year in Europe, has become fastest ever device to reach the milestone in a short tenure of few months.

During its first month of launch, the model got a huge response from customers, reporting one million sales marks. With the kind of popularity the model has achieved, the company intends expanding its sale efforts in the markets of Southeast and Southwest Asia, East-Central Africa, China, and Central America.

Young-hee Lee, Vice President of Marketing, Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics, said: "We're very pleased by this success. We see the demand for touch screen phones increasing and we will continue to offer consumers a diverse range of products, supported by unique marketing campaigns."

The company is expected to achieve its target of 10 million units' sales globally by November, if the current trend remains as it is. Samsung's highly efficient market strategies also contributed to the model's high popularity, even in those markets where the company maintains a limited hold, given the dominance of rivals.
