South Korean electronics giant, Samsung is planning to launch its new Galaxy Nexus smartphone in the US by the month of December.

The phone will make its debut in the US market on Verizon Wireless, according to a spokesperson of the carrier. "The Galaxy Nexus will be available later this year. Samsung/Google/Verizon Wireless are on track to launch the handset but we don't yet have a firm date," the spokesperson wrote.

The new Galaxy Nexus based on Google's Android has been received favorably by the customers in various markets. The device has also received fair reviews by blogs in the US and elsewhere and is pitched against Apple's iPhone smartphone and is also seen as one of the flagship models of the new version of Android platform.

According to a new report by Business Insider, Samsung has said that it will launch the new smartphone in December in the US market. Samsung has not announced more details about the launch of the smartphone.

Meanwhile, the company has said that it will release a update for the smartphone to fix an issue that is causing problems with sound volume after the problems surfaced with customers in the UK.
