Safety board recommends banning mobile phones for drivers

The National Transportation Safety Board, a US federal agency, has recommended banning the use of mobile phones while driving. The board said that the recommendation to ban drivers from using hands-free devices, including wireless headsets comes after ten years of research investigations into accidents related to distraction for drives. It said that it has found that the as mobile phones become more advanced they have more reasons to distract drivers on eth roads.

The boars said that the drivers face huge risks while using a wireless device to talk on phone just as when they use their hands to hold a phone to talk while driving. None of states on the US currently ban the use of wireless devices while driving.

Deborah Hersman, chairwoman of the N. T. S. B said that the concerns have increased as the mobile phones have become more advanced and offer more distractions to the drivers.

"Every year, new devices are being released. People are tempted to update their Facebook page, they are tempted to tweet, as if sitting at a desk. But they are driving a car," she said.

She admitted that the recommendation will not be accepted well by some but outlined that \its board's job to take correct actions. She also said that the recommendation is a difficult recommendation for the board.
