Sacked steel plant worker’s ‘cry of anger’ becomes YouTube sensation!

London, Oct 29 : A steel plant worker has instantly gained the status of a rockstar after the ‘angry’ song he posted on YouTube when he lost his job became a hit.

The 49-year-old Christian de Mitri, from the Lorraine region of eastern France, penned the track and recorded the song at home and uploaded it on YouTube.

The song, written in tribute to his former colleagues at the Gandrange steel plant, which was shuttered in March, echoes the widespread resentment in France over job losses and the predicament of those now roaming about aimlessly.

The video, entitled Marchand d''''Acier: Tueur de Region – Steel Merchant: Region Killer – has been visited over 30,000 times after it was uploaded two weeks ago.

The ArcelorMittal owned Gandrange plant, situated near the eastern city of Metz shut down this year with 571 redundancies.

Although, M. de Mitri, had left the plant in 2001 he was left redundant elsewhere, following which he wrote the song dedicating it to his former colleagues.

"I wanted to let out a cry of anger. [The steel industry] is a vital product for Lorraine. It''s our lifeblood. Now, with relocations and job cuts, they''re taking it all away from us," the Telegraph quoted him, as saying. (ANI)
