Sabeer Bhatia’s Sabse Technologies acquires social communications site Jaxtr
The operator of the web conferencing site Sabsebolo.com – Sabse Technologies of Sabeer Bhatia has acquired the Melno Park, California based website Jaxtr, which helps making international calls for free.
Sabeer Bhatia, the founder of Hotmail, is the celebrated name of the Silicon Valley. Sabeer Bhatia and Yogesh Patel co-founded the Sabsebolo.com in January, 2008.
Jaxtr is yet another big achievement of Sabeer Bhatia. Jaxtr is a social communications company, which combines global calling, SMS, and social networking. Jaxtr is the website that provides an audio conferencing service. Jaxtr allows its users to make free and low-rate international calls through a personal computer.
Jaxtr claims that it has over 10 million customers through out the world, and it has raised over $20 million in funding; its investors include three of the original Skype investors.
Jaxtr was founded by Founded by Phillip Mobin and Touraj Parang in October 2005. The company uses VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) technology to offer its services. Some of the key features of Jaxtr include phone-to-phone calls to/from any mobile and landline phones, voice based social networking (café jaxtr), without software downloads or access pins, and offering local Direct Inward Dialing (DID) phone numbers to its users. Jaxtr offers its services in 56 countries.
On the other side, the Mountain View, California based Sabse Technologies’ customers include AirTel, Tata and Celcom, among others.
Sabse Technologies has reported that Jaxtr will remain operative under its own brand name. Sabse has also declared that it will maintain and expand the Jaxtr services.
According to Sabse Technologies, the deal will help to increase its market penetration and boost its growth. It will help in speeding up the deployment of its additional applications to large user base of Jaxtr, and take advantage of millions of Jaxtr customers.
However, the two companies have not yet disclosed the financial terms of the acquisition deal.
