The future of Roscommon hospital seems to be bleak as no decision has yet been taken about its emergency department. However, the Health Service Executive (HSE) has recommended that the hospital’s emergency department should be closed down by 11th July. It is believed that shortage of medical staff in the hospital has led HSE to take this action.

It is learnt that the emergency cases coming to Roscommon hospital will be referred to University Hospital Galway. It has been told that the emergency department of the hospital is being shut down considering the improper services being provided by the department. The HSE has assured that it will soon be addressing to all the complaints against the Roscommon hospital.

Although there have been news of it being shut down, no concrete decision has yet been taken in this regard. Because of incapability of the HSE to take decision the future of emergency department is hanging in the middle. Moreover, it has emerged that recently a meeting was held to discuss the cuts to be placed in the hospital’s services. Additionally, it has been procured that HSE is planning to put a hold on the performances of acute and planned inpatient surgery for the Roscommon hospital.
