RIL’s Rosa Power Plant All Set for Phase 1 Power Generation

RelianceRosa power plant in Uttar Pradesh is all set for power generation. Flagship company of Anil Dhirubhai Ambani started power generation from its new power plant in UP.

The plant is commissioned at 300 MW capacities for first phase. And full capacity would only be utilized by the end of the Eleventh Plan by March 2012.

Anil Ambani plans to install 28,200 megawatts, or about 20 percent of India’s current capacity, in five years, as was confirmed by the company in January 2008.

Reliance Power has already signed a PPA with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation for the electricity generated from the 600 MW first phase. The company is also done with the financial closure of second phase and is now placing orders for equipment.

Shares of Reliance Power climbed as much as 6.8 percent to 157 rupees, the biggest jump since July 15, and rose 6.4 percent to 156.4 rupees at 10:53 a. m. in Mumbai.

“Rosa project would be the largest private sector investment in UP with investment outlay over Rs 6000 crore. It will add around 20% to the existing generating capacity of the state and will greatly contribute to the reducing power deficit”, Reliance Power CEO J P Chalasani said.
