Responsibility lies with Maoists for political solutions in Nepal, says Girija Prasad Koirala
Kathmandu, July 12 : Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has said that the Maoists being the biggest party in the Constituent Assembly, should take responsibility for finding solutions to the latest political developments, including formation of a new government .
Addressing a function organised here on Friday, Koirala said: " It is the responsibility of the Maoists to give political outlet in Nepal."
Koirala, however, said that he is ready to play the role of a facilitator and help the Maoists bail the country out of its current political deadlock.
Expressing hope for a new government being in place soon, Koirala said that the Maoist leadership should come up with a clear policy on all aspects of national development.
Earlier, Koirala held separate meetings with the leaders of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) and Terai Madhes Loktantric Party (TMLP) to discuss the political deadlock that has developed after their boycott of Constituent Assembly (CA) proceeding on Wednesday in protest against the Fifth Amendment in the interim constitution.
The Fifth Amendment will allow the formation of the government through a simple majority. It will also allow the Constituent Assembly (CA) to elect the president and the vice president through simple majority.
Koirala first met TMLP chairman Mahanta Thakur asked him and his party leaders not to obstruct CA proceeding or boycott it.
Koirala also said that the government and the major political parties were very serious about resolving the problem facing the Madhes, and advised him to move forward in consensus with all the parties concerned to end the current deadlock, Nepalnews reported. (ANI)
