Repower wins further Italian wind turbine order

Suzlon CompanyHamburg  - Repower, the German constructor of wind turbines which is controlled by Suzlon of India, said Friday it had won a major new order from a unit of Italian oil group ERG.

No value was disclosed for the order for firm delivery of 50 turbines in the 2-megawatt class and options on 30 more.

The ERG unit, Enertad, had secured the supply of 160 megawatts with the turbines, most to be installed in Italy. Twelve of those in the option block were earmarked for sites in France, Repower said.

Under the declaration of intent, Enertad must exercise the options by this September.

A statement quoted Raffaele Tognacca, chief executive of Enertad, saying the order was a milestone in the company's shift into wind.

Hamburg-based Repower also has orders from Enel of Italy to build turbines with a total capacity of 263 megawatts in France and Italy.

On Monday, Repower disclosed a huge order from Canada for turbines with a total capacity of 954 megawatts for the St Laurent Energies consortium.
