Buddhadeb, Paswan In Narrow EscapeSunday was the lucky day for West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and Union Steel Minister Ram Vilas Pawan. They narrowly escaped a powerful explosion on their way to Kalaichandi in Paschim Medinipur district. Police raised fingers on Maoists for the explosion.

Both leaders were returning from Salboni to Kolkata. They were in the town to attend foundation laying function of a mega steel plant established by Jindal Steel.

14th Kolkata film festival to begin November 10West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee announced at a press conference that the 14th Kolkata Film Festival will kick off from November 10.  The eight-day cinematic extravaganza will include the screening of 276 recently released films from all over the globe.

Bhattacharjee said that the melange will have 17 Indian entries, other than 44 short-films, eight documentaries and seven children’s films. A total number of 100 foreign films from 62 countries will also be included, of which majority will be the Latin American films.

BJP, Trinamool part ways in Bengal

Kolkata : The West Bengal BJP has decided to end its ties with Trinamool Congress. BJP will contest the coming Lok Sabha polls on its own.

"The poll alliance between Trinamool Congress and BJP in Bengal no longer exists," state BJP General Secretary Rahul Sinha told to anews agency.
 
"Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, who is eying on Muslim votebank, has openly declared that she does not want to keep truck with BJP in the state." He added.

Zee News inks strategic partnership pact with Sky BZee News, a part of the Essel Group has informed that the company has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Sky B (Bangla) Pvt. Ltd.

 Under the deal, Zee News Ltd will handle marketing, advertising, sales and programming initiatives of Sky B's Akaash Bangla, the 24-hour regional infotainment channel in Bengali, against an agreed fee structure.

Bengali news channel 24 Ghanta is owned by Zee Akaash News Pvt. Ltd, which is a 60:40 joint venture between Zee News Ltd and Sky B Pvt. Ltd.
