New Delhi, Oct 5 : The third meeting of the UPA-Left Committee on Indo-US civil nuclear deal will take place today to address the Left concern on the deal.

New Delhi: The rising rupee has not been capable of getting much luster out of the country’s total export performance with exports recording a 18.91% expansion in August 2007 valued at $12.68 billion as against $10.66 billion of exports in August 2006.

In spite of some setback like textiles and leather, others like engineering, gems & jewellery and petroleum are still adding to the growth. The growth speed, however, is under the 41.4% rate filed in August 2006 as compared to the corresponding months in 2005.

According to FIEO approximations, the drop in exports in labour-intensive segments will result in eight million job losses in the recent year.

New Delhi: Dengue has affected All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) once again with four students of the hospital campus presently going through treatment for suspected dengue.

The hospital authorities have confirmed that two doctors are already undergoing treatment at the hospital for mosquito-borne disease and two more were diagnosed with dengue on Saturday.

New Delhi, Sept. 29 : American Indian astronaut Sunita Williams arrived here today, months after completing her successful expedition aboard the space shuttle "Discovery".

Williams arrived here after attending the concluding session of the 58th International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Hyderabad. She was given a warm welcome by her fans and American Embassy officials.

During her six-day stay, Williams will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi. She is also scheduled to meet other prominent personalities.

New Delhi, Sept.28 : Union Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh flagged off the "Azadi Express" - the Mobile Train Exhibition from the Safdarjang Railway station here today.

The mobile exhibition celebrates the 150th anniversary of the 1857 uprising, the 60 years of India's independence from British colonial rule and the birth centenary of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.

New Delhi, Sept. 28 : Minister of Fertilizers and Chemicals and Steel Ram Vilas Paswan will release the National Policy on Petrochemicals here today.
The policy is aimed at promoting investment in upstream in downstream industries, increase production and consumption, create infrastructure and promote research and development of plastic and synthetic fibres.
