Mingora, Mar. 25 : Tehreek Nifaz-e-Shariat-e-Muhammadi (TNSM) chief Sufi Muhammad has warned the Pakistan Government that he will suspend the Swat peace deal if the government fails to meet his demands.
Addressing a press conference in Mingora, he described the newly appointed qazis as powerless.
Muhammad warned that if government fails to fulfill its promises, the TNSM would wind up its peace camp in Swat and leave the area. The government would be responsible for the ensuing law and order problems, the daily Times quoted him, as saying.
Mingora, Oct 23 : At least 15 soldiers belonging to the Frontier Constabulary (FC) and five Taliban were found dead in Kabal tehsil of Swat on Wednesday.
The FC troops had gone missing after a fight with Taliban that broke out last evening after a roadside bomb targeted a paramilitary convoy in the Sarsenai area. “After the exchange of fire that lasted for several hours, more than 20 troops went missing but today we found 15 dead bodies at the site,” Noor Rehman, a police officer in Kabal, said.
Mingora (Pak), Oct 9 : A Muslim rebel cleric in Swat, which has been facing aerial attacks from Pakistan security forces aimed at weeding out terrorists, has said that public representatives and government officials would be granted ‘conditional amnesty’ from ‘target-killing’ if they gave up supporting the security forces carrying out an operation against him.
Mingora (Pak), Aug 18 : Several incidents of terror were reported from the Swat Valley last evening, in which at least four people were killed and 13 injured.
A basic health unit, a girls’ school and a barber shop were set on fire and a police post was blown up by militants, while at other places the security forces attacked suspected militant hideouts with heavy weapons, reported the Dawn.
Mingora (NWFP), Aug 10 : The Pakistan unit of the Taliban – Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) has warned MPs against voting for President Pervez Musharraf during the Impeachment Motion tomorrow, saying anyone voting for Musharraf would be their “next target”.
TTP spokesman Muslim Khan said that Musharraf was ‘responsible’ for the present spate of violence in the Tribal Areas and NWFP.
