UCO Bank plans to slash PLR by 50 bps; calls meeting on November 10 for decisionPublic sector lender UCO Bank has notified that it would cut prime lending rate by 50 basis points by next week.

The bank has stated in a release that it has decided to cut PLR by half a per cent and ALCO (Assets and Liability Committee) of the bank would meet on November 10 to review the interest rate scenario.

All religion prayer for Assam blasts victims in Kolkata

Kolkata, Oct 31 : An all religion prayer session was held in Kolkata today for the victims of serial blasts that ripped through Guwahati and three other towns on Thursday in which 70 people were killed and over 300 injured.

People from all communities came together to pray for the people who lost their lives in blasts.

The prayers organised by All India Minority Forum, also condemned the acts of terror which have rocked the country in recent months.

"We also condemned the activities of terrorism, in all places like Assam, Delhi, and other states. We should fight together irrespective of caste and creed," said Idrish Ali, President, All India Minority Forum.

Fire accidents dampen Diwali festivities in India

New Delhi/Kolkata/Kanpur, Oct 29: Diwali festivities were marred due to various fire accidents caused by firecrackers across India.

In Delhi, seven people were injured, including four firemen, when a massive fire broke out in a in a slum cluster in Jehangirpuri area of Delhi last night.

"All our belongings are burnt, nothing is left. We are not even left with clothes to wear. We don''t know whether any human being is injured in the fire but pets like dogs, cats, and goats have all died in the fire," said Shrikant, a victim.

Rizwanur case: CBI raids Ashok Todi''s residence

Kolkata, Oct 28 : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) last night conducted a raid at the residence of Ashok Todi, the father-in-law of computer graphics teacher Rizwanur Rehman who was found dead last year after a month of his marriage.

The Special Branch of CBI conducted a raid in search of Ashok Todi, his brother Pradip Todi and brother-in-law Anil Sarogi against whom non-bailable arrest warrants were issued by the court on Monday.

However, none of the three were found in the residence, CBI sources said.

According to CBI sources, a red alert has been issued to all airports and major railway stations against Todi''s and their brother-in-law to prevent them from escaping from the country.
