Nepal to discuss Saptakoshi flood situation with Indian Government

Pushpa Kamal DahalKathmandu, Sept 1 : Nepal’s Prime Minister Prachanda today said that the Government will be discuss with the Indian Government about the problems caused by the Saptakoshi floods.

During a meeting with the representatives of the Morang Commerce and Industries Association here, Prachanda said the Government has been carrying out serious discussions with the Indian government in this regard.

Kathmandu, Sept 1 : Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal DahalNepal’s Prime Minister Prachanda has said restoring peace, economic development and formulation of a new Constitution are the main challenges for the new government.

Speaking at an economic summit on ''Double Digit Growth: A National Commitment'' organized by Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) here on Sunday, Prachanda said, "We are committed to bring the peace process to a logical conclusion within six months and the new Constitution will have to be drafted in two years, then we will concentrate on economic development."

During his meeting with the Communist Party of Nepal (Unity Centre) General Secretary Narayan Kaji Shrestha ''Prakash'' at Baluwatar on Saturday, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda said "technical problems" that hampered the cabinet formation had been resolved and that a full-fledged cabinet would be in place on Sunday, Nepalnews. com reported.

Prachanda also expressed confidence that minor allies like Janamorcha Nepal and CPN (Marxist Leninist) would join the new government on Sunday itself.

One dead, nine injured in police-worker clashes in southern NepalKathmandu - At least one person was killed and nine injured Friday when police opened fire on industrial workers whose demonstrations in southern Nepal had turned violent, media reports said Friday.

The clashes erupted in the Bara district, about 90 kilometres south of Kathmandu, when police moved in to break up demonstrators who were forcibly shutting down factories and markets, the independent Radio Kantipur said.

New Nepalese government seeks donor support for economic growth

NepalKathmandu- The new government led by the former rebel Maoists Thursday sought help from Nepal's key international donors for continued financial assistance.

The meeting between the government and representatives of donor countries and organization was the first since the Maoist-led government was sworn in earlier this month.

It was also an attempt to instill confidence within the donor community, which has been apprehensive about the Maoist commitment to free economy and democracy.
