Srinagar, Sept. 12 : Three Huji militants, including a self-style commander were killed in a fierce gunbattle with the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir''s Kishtwar district.

One killed during protests in Indian Kashmir Katra (Jammu and Kashmir), Sept 10 : Officials in Jammu have said that the number of pilgrims arriving for the Vaishno Devi cave shrine is increasing after normalcy was restored in region following an agreement between the State Government and the Shri Amarnath Sangarsh Samiti.

After a sharp dip in the number of pilgrims in the last two months owing to the frequent shutdowns and curfew due to unrest over the shrine forestland row, the region is bouncing back to normalcy.

Infrastructure for cross border trade reviewed in J-K

Four Indian soldiers killed in KashmirSalamabad (J-K), Sept 9 : A high-level Central Government team comprising of senior officers from Union Ministries of External, Home and Finance inspected the facilities for trade with Pakistan through the Kashmir valley recently.

The team accompanied by senior officers of State Government and military commanders visited the Kaman Post, last point on the Indian side on the Line of Control (LoC) and the upcoming land customs station at Salamabad near the Uri border town in Baramulla District in Jammu and Kashmir.

Widely known for their superior quality and taste, Kashmiri almonds are very popular. The almonds are also grouped on the basis of shell thickness as "Papery", "Thin-shelled", and "Thick-shelled ".

With a comparatively good weather this season, the growers in Warwan village, famous for its almonds, are hoping for a better return.

Election Commission meeting on J-K poll schedule gets differing views

Government says over 500 carriers with essentials have entered SrinagarNew Delhi, Sept 8 : The Election Commission meeting with all political parties of Jammu and Kashmir to determine the timing of the State Assembly elections on Monday evoked differing views.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Left parties demanded that elections be held on time, while the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Panthers Party wanted delimitation to be done first before finalising the date.

However, the Congress left the timing to be decided by the Commission.
