Central Govt. officials to study J and K reconstruction projects today

Jammu and KashmirJammu, Apr 1: A Central team comprising 22 secretaries and joint secretaries will arrive here to assess the progress of implementation of the Central projects under the Prime Minister's Reconstruction Programme (PMRP) for Jammu and Kashmir.

Secretary (Border Management) in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Shantanu Konsul, who is leading the high-level team, will hold discussions with state government officials on the progress of the ongoing projects under the PMRP.

These projects include roads and buildings, tourism, forestry, power and other allied sectors.

Lalu offers prayers at Vaishno Devi shrine

Jammu, Apr 7: Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad YadavUnion Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav today offered prayers at Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to official sources, Lalu along with his family members offered prayers at the shrine, which is located at an altitude of 5200 feet and a distance of approximately
12 kilometres from Katra.

The Minister, left for Vaishno Devi on Sunday evening, after flagging off the 'Garib Rath' train between Jammu and Kathgodam.

At the ceremony, Yadav said the launch of the train would facilitate better connectivity in the region.

Two Hizbul Mujahideen militants surrendered in J-K

Thathri (Doda), Apr 5 : Two militants belonging to the banned Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) outfit on Saturday surrendered before security forces in Jammu and Kashmir.

The militants have been identified as Farooq Ahmed alias Umer and Mohammed Iqbal alias Amir.

The militants have surrendered along with two rifles, magazines and ammunitions.

"We are constantly receiving these inputs that militants are trying to indulge in some kind of mischief or trying to target innocent civilians. We are ready to face any eventuality from the militant side," Manohar Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police, Doda.

Kashmir Valley to have nine railway stations

Srinagar, Apr 3: Jammu and KashmirAt least nine railway stations in Kashmir Valley are in the construction list of the Railways.

”Anantnag, Baijpora, Pampore, Kakapora, Awantipora, Rajvoser, Srinagar and Budgam and Baramulla places have been chosen as the railway stations,” said sources in the Northern Railways.

Some of these stations have already been constructed and others are in the process of completion, the sources added.

Out of 15 bogies, three engines and track repair vehicle have already been sent to the valley.

Jammu has a new flower garden

kashmir valleyBhour Camp (Jammu), Mar 31: The Kashmir Valley is known for its colourful gardens. Now Jammu too has a flower garden at the Bhour Camp.

There are over twenty varieties of flowers in this garden like Nasturtium (Tropaeolum), Sweet William (Dianthus barbatus), Icicle plant (Mesembryanthemum) and Calendula (Ca-lén-du-la, pot marigold).

All this, however did not happen overnight as this piece of land was lying fallow till about a year back.

LeT militant re-arrested in Doda

Doda (Jammu and Kashmir), Mar 30 : Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday re-arrested a Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militant Abdul Qadir.
