No evidence provided to Pak over Mumbai attacks: ZardariIstanbul, Dec. 6 : Visiting Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari has said that Islamabad is yet to be provided with concrete evidence on its role in the Mumbai terror attacks.

Addressing a joint press conference here, along with Afghanistan’s President Hamid Karzai and Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer, Zardari said Pakistan too was a victim of terrorism.

According to The News, Zardari replied in negative when asked whether Pakistan’s direction in the war against terror will change following the tense situation between Pakistan and India.

“The focus of the government of Pakistan has been anti-terror.... We will continue with our fight against the perpetrators and stateless actors of terrorism,” the Dawn quoted Zardari, as saying.

Ancient Roman palace excavated in Turkey

Istanbul, Oct 15 : Excavation work in southeastern Sanliurfa province in Turkey has led to the discovery of a Roman palace (fifth to sixth century A. D.) and floor mosaics, which feature an ancient Amazonian queen from the early Byzantine period.

According to a report in Today’s Zaman, the Anatolia news agency reported that the Haleplibahce district, one of the oldest historical residential areas of the city, constitutes an important part of the ancient city of Edessa, famous for its wall pictures depicting the Amazonian queens Hippolyte, Antiope, Melanippe and Penthesileia hunting in the forest.

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism began the excavation work two years ago after these wall pictures were found.

1,700-year-old golden jewelry unearthed in Turkey

Istanbul, Oct 14 : Archaeologists have found a tomb featuring intricate mosaics in a district in Turkey, which includes 55 skeletons buried in five graves and 18 pieces of delicate

According to a report in Turkish Daily News, Austrian Archaeological Committee President Sabine Ladstatter said that they found a variety of objects, including silk clothes with golden threads, but that the jewels in particular were a big surprise.

“The uncovered pieces have meticulous details. So, these graves surely belonged to upper-class people in Ephesus,” she said.
