Government’s making all efforts to encourage economic development: SibalNew Delhi, Feb 27 : Union Minister for Science and Technology Kapil Sibal on Friday said the government was making all efforts to encourage development and commercialization of inventions and innovations in the field of scientific research.

"Inventions and innovations are essential for the country's economic development. The Central Government is making all efforts to encourage commercialization in the field of scientific research," Sibal told media persons here.

Gawli joins hands with BSPMumbai, Feb 27 : Former mafia don and Maharashtra legislator Arun Gawli's party -- Akhil Bharatiya Sena (ABS) on Friday joined hands with the Bahujan Samaj Party
(BSP).

Gawli will contest the Mumbai North Central Lok Sabha seat on a BSP ticket.

"The ABS chief has already given a letter of consent to merge the two parties," BSP state president Vilas Garud said.

Congress's Eknath Gaekwad is presently representing the constituency.

Talking to reporters here, Gyanendra said he doesn''t wish to relocate to any other country.

"I will continue to stay in Nepal as long as the people of Nepal want me there. I don''t want go anywhere," he added.

Dharamsala, Feb 27 : Tibetan exiles living in Dharamsala hurled shoes at Chinese President Hu Jintao''s effigy on Friday as a mark of protest against alleged Chinese atrocities on Tibetans in Lhasa.

Inspired by the Iraqi television journalist who hurled shoes at former US President, Bush, the young exiles publicly expressed their anger against the Chinese leader.

Tenzin Cheoying, the President of the Students for a Free Tibet, said that hurling shoes was one of the most non-violent ways of protes.

HC defers hearing on plea on declaration of judges’ assetsNew Delhi, Feb 27 : The Delhi High Court on Friday deferred hearing on a petition filed by the Supreme Court challenging a Central Information Commission (CIC) order directing that assets of the judges should be made public.

Justice S. Ravinder Bhat adjourned the matter and posted it for further hearing on March 17.

The Supreme Court in its affidavit had said declaration of assets by its judges to the Chief Justice is "personal" information, which cannot be revealed under the Right to Information Act.
