New Delhi, Mar 26 : The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) and Samajwadi Party (SP) have announced plans to contest the coming general elections in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar unitedly.

Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh said, "We three are together. We will not clash with each other in the two states (UP and Bihar) having 120 Lok Sabha seats (80 seats in UP, 40 seats in Bihar)."

Ludhiana, Mar 26 : Torrential rains have damaged Rabi crops in Ludhiana, causing huge losses to local farmers.

Distraught farmers in the city say surprise rains and hailstorms have ruined their wheat crops.

"For last three to four days there is a strong wind blowing accompanied by rain. As a result of this, there are clouds in the night due to which our wheat crop is getting damaged. We have lost one fourth of the wheat crop due to the rains," said Harcharan Singh.

New Delhi, Mar. 26 : The Editors Guild of India today expressed its shock over the brutal murder of Anil Mazumdar, Editor the Assamese daily Aji on Tuesday night by gunmen.

In a statement, the Guild said that it has regularly expressed its deep apprehensions about the safety of editors and journalists in Assam as many of them function under the shadow of threats.

Bangalore, Mar 26 : Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone on Thursday announced that a ten-kilometer marathon would be held here on May 31, 2009.

Padukone, who is promoting the marathon, said she would try to run as much as she could in the marathon.

"I have been practicing yoga for the past few years. I don't know how much that is going to help me. Maybe not in terms of endurance but definitely in terms of metal strength. In flexibility, I think I have a decent stamina. So, I will try and run as much as I can," she said.

New Delhi, Mar 26 : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday said that it wants the Satyam Computers Services founder Ramalinga Raju to undergo a lie detector test in connection with the multi-billion fraud at the IT major.

"We have filed an application in a Hyderabad court that we would like to do a polygraph test on Raju. Because we feel that Raju has not shared everything with us. We need more evidences. This is a case of corporate fraud," CBI Director Ashwani Kumar told reporters in a press conference here.

New Delhi, Mar 26 : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said there should be no attempt to link infiltration at the Line of Control (LoC) with peace in the state.
