New Delhi  - Tibetan exiles in the northern Indian hill town of Dharamsala staged protests Saturday to mark the 50th anniversary of what they termed Chinese "repression" in Tibet.

"More than 500 protestors gathered at the town's main bus square and released balloons with messages of hope and solidarity with Tibetans in Tibet who continue to suffer under Chinese occupation," said Tenzin Choeying, a member of a Tibetan youth organization.

Wellington  - An illegal Indian immigrant in New Zealand for the last 23 years has been reunited with his wife and son after finally getting permission to stay, a newspaper reported on Saturday.

"I thought I would be going to my grave without ever seeing them again," Abdul Jalil Patel, 58, told the New Zealand Herald as his wife Amina, 55, and son Salman, 24, flew into Auckland airport on Friday.

Dharamsala, Mar 27 : The fortnight long session of the Tibetan parliament in-exile concluded here on Friday.

It was the seventh session of the 14th Tibetan Parliament in-exile which began on March 9.

Instituted in 1960, the Tibetan Parliament-in-exile is the highest legislative organ of the community of Tibetan refugees.

The March session is usually the budget session where the budget of the Tibetan government is discussed and passed.
