Hospitals may examine Patients for HIV/AIDS without Permission

Next time you go to the hospital for a routine check up, you may get examined for HIV too. Private hospitals have started out examining all patients for HIV/AIDS, without seeking their permission or providing them guidance.     

Medical specialists have named it a ‘violation of one’s fundamental rights’. Private hospitals have made the examinations mandatory, as they declared it defends their healthcare suppliers from catching such diseases.

58th International Astronautical Congress to begin today

Hyderabad, Sep 24: The 58th International Astronautical Congress (IAC) will begin at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre today.

The session of the IAC, with theme "Touching Humanity: Space for Improving quality of life", is being hosted by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Astronautical Society of India (ASI).

Students get lessons in handling snakes in Udaipur

Udaipur (Rajasthan), Sept 23 : Students in Udaipur are being taught how to handle snakes by a snake catcher with an aim to protect these reptiles.
The credit for the mass awareness goes to snake catcher Chaman Singh.

Students are learning to handle and play with snakes with the objective of dispelling misconceptions about reptiles.

Karunanidhi’s supporters ransack BJP’s Chennai office

Chennai, Sep 23 : Dravid Munnettra Kazhagam (DMK) activists lead by State Information Minister Paruthi Ellamvazhuthi today ransacked Chennai office of the Bharatiya Janata Party, while protesting against the remarks made by Vishva Hindu Parishad leader Ramvilas Vedanti to behead their leader M Karunanidhi over his remarks on Lord Rama.

“Vedanti should withdraw his words against our leader, and the Central Government should take action on this,” Ellamvazhuthi said.

Naxalite attack claims three lives in Bihar

Gaya (Bihar), Sep 23 : At least three persons including a policeman were today killed in an attack by Naxalites in Bihar's Gaya District. The banned rebel group have called for a 24-hour shutdown to register their protest against the arrest of their top leader, Tushar Kant Bhattacharya, and his aide Brajmohan Ram.

According to official sources, the naxalites torched 13 trucks and two buses at places under Amas and Barachatti police stations.
