Hyderabad, Dec 11 : Ever since the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests banned animals being tamed to perform in circuses except elephants and dogs, these entertaining ventures under the ''Big Top'' are starved of public patronage.
Consequent to the Government''s directives, the circus industry was compelled to hand over almost all its trained animals like the sloth bear that could ride a moped, felines (tigers and lions) which could jump through rings and a hippo to the Forest Department.
An exclusive content licensing deal with Walt Disney Television International India (WDTVI- India) for three animated series – Twisted Whiskers, Ratman and Sandra has been made by DQ Entertainment (DQE), a Hyderabad-based animation, gaming and entertainment company.
All the three shows would be telecasted on Disney multiplex of channels in the coming months.
The Kerala High court issued a stay order on the construction of the Rs 5,000 crore Vizhinjam Port Transshipment Terminal Project in Kerala, which was awarded to Hyderabad-based Lanco Infratech. The ruling comes in response to a petition, filed by Mumbai-based Zoom Developers, whose bid for the port project was disqualified on technical grounds. The divisional bench, headed by chief justice H L Dattu, has given 15 days to the evaluation committee to look into the tender quotations, submitted by Zoom.
Keeping in view the recent terror strikes in the country’s financial capital, police has decided to provide special security at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), venue for the four-day `Internet Governance Forum' (IGF) 2008 event.
The security at the various star hotels have also been beefed up by the police. Apart from this, the security at the Hyderabad International Airport and the routes leading to the Hyderabad International Convention Centre has also been tightened up.
