Gujarat Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Narendra Modi Amreli (Gujarat), Apr 26 : Gujarat Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Narendra Modi on Sunday lashed out at Congress President Sonia Gandhi for her demand that the State Government should give an account of the Central funds used in the state, saying the UPA chairperson does not have primary knowledge of how the government functions.

Shoe hurled at Indian premier during speech

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan SinghNew Delhi - A protestor threw a shoe at Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during an election rally on Sunday, but it landed several feet short of where he was speaking. Singh was addressing the gathering in the western Gujarat state's main Ahmedabad city and was momentarily distracted from his speech as a security personnel ran towards the spot where the shoe was lying.

The guard then kicked and later carried away the white sneaker which had landed about 20 feet away from the podium.

Now, Jaitley supports Modi as PMVadodara, Apr 25: After Bharatiya Janata Party leader Arun Shourie, party general secretary Arun Jaitley on Saturday said that he would like to see Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to occupy the top post after Lal Krishna Advani.

"I will be very happy if Shourie''s wishes would come true," he said when asked to comment on Arun Shourie''s comment hinting Modi as next prime ministerial candidate.

Jaitley further said that Gujarat would have the opportunity to elect PM in next general elections also.
