Washington - US federal agents took an accused Nazi war criminal into custody on Tuesday for his pending deportation to Germany on charges connected to his time as a guard at a concentration camp. The agents removed John Demjanjuk, 89, from his suburban Cleveland home in the state of Ohio. Contacted by telephone, Demjanjuk's lawyer, John Broadley, could not confirm when his client will arrive in Germany.
Karlsruhe, Germany - German investigators are checking out a hostile, German-language, Islamist video which recently appeared on a Central Asian website, federal prosecutors in Karlsruhe confirmed Tuesday. The 25-minute video appeared to have been made by the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan. The German speakers in the video were thought to be two brothers of Moroccan extraction who grew up in Bonn and hold German citizenship, the Spiegel news website said.

DWW Woolworth Deutschland GmbH & Co, which employs 11,000 people in Germany, belongs to a private equity investor, Argyll Partners, and is no longer connected to the US company founded in 1878 by F W Woolworth.
Darmstadt, Germany - A member of Germany's leading female pop band has been arrested for allegedly having unprotected sex despite being HIV positive, lawyers said Tuesday. Nadja Benaissa, a 26-year-old singer with the group No Angels, is to have had unprotected sex with three men in 2004 and 2006, the state prosecution in the town of Darmstadt said.
