Gujarat students can take along books during examinations

Ahmedabad, Sep. 18 : Gujarat Higher Secondary Education Board has decided to introduce ''open book examinations'' system for standard VIII to X students, enabling them to refer the books while taking exams.

The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB), which is half way into this academic session (2008 to 09), has decided to introduce the Open Book format of examination for the VIII, IX and X standard classes.

Nanavati Commission submits first part of report to Modi

Chief Minister Narendra ModiAhmedabad, Sep 18 : A two-member commission headed by Justice G T Nanavati today submitted the first part of its report on the 2002 Sabarmati train carnage at Godhra and subsequent riots to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

The Commission, appointed by the Modi Government after the worst-ever riots in the state and comprising retired Justices Nanavati and Akshay Mehta, examined more than 1,000 witness during the period of six years.

Ahmedabad blasts accused brought to DelhiNew Delhi, Sept 18: Ahmedabad blasts mastermind Mufti Abu Bashir has been brought to Delhi for questioning in connection with the serial blasts in the national Capital.

The interrogation report of Bashir, a cleric from Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh, had revealed that he stayed in Delhi between July 24 and 27 at two different places.

His brother Abu Zar was working as a parking attendant in Old Delhi while two of his other contacts Danish and Aftab were staying in South Delhi.

Two held for alleged links with Ahmedabad blasts

AhmedabadAhmedabad, Sept 16 : The city crime branch has arrested two more persons in connection with the Ahmedabad serial blasts that took 55 lives.

Police have also released photographs of four more suspects for their alleged involvement in the blast.

According to sources, the two persons arrested belong to Juhapura and Bapunagar areas of Ahmedabad.

At least 16 bombs exploded in Ahmedabad on July 26, a day after another set of blasts in Bangalore killed a woman. Three days later, several unexploded bombs were found in Gujarat''s Surat town.
