Red wine enjoys a celebrity status in India, Vinexpo

Red-WineA report from Vinexpo declared that intake of red wine in India has soared over the past two years.

The report stated that out of a total of 1.45 million seals that were broken; 1.05 million cases were of red wine, 395,000 cases of white wine rest 13,000 cases of Rosé wine.

The forecast may very resourceful, but there are a few clauses attached to it the reason being authentic figures, which differ across all the leading wine producers in India. Though a commonality found amongst them was the ranking, which saw red wine as the top selling wine amongst the rest.

Rajeev Samant, CEO, Sula Vineyards said, "The consumption figures for red, white and Rosé wine are 71.96%, 27.15% and 0.89% respectively". In the case of Grover Vineyards- 60% of market share is occupied by the red wine, followed by 34% of white wine and 5-6% of Rosé wine.

However, keeping aside these figures, it is clear that Indians are looking for a glass of red wine these days.
