Rahman, Gulzar Create Magic Again With 'Raavan'
When the credits boast of ace music composer A.R. Rahman, rhymester Gulzar and director Mani Ratnam, expectations are unquestionably high. In "Raavan", the three has set off a lethal blend presenting a soundtrack, which is new, high on energy and in tune with the character of the film.
Starring real life couple Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the film "Raavan" has six songs but no remixed musical recording.
The album begins with "Beera", which depicts Abhi's role in the movie. With strong instrumentation, congo beats and foot-tapping rhythm method, the song instantly connects with the hearer and is highly fascinating. Sung by Vijay Prakash, Mustafa Kutoane and Keerthi Sagathia, "Beera" is really action-packed.
Next song is "Behene de". Superbly crooned by Karthik and Mohd. Irfan, it is the best song of the film. Even though it has a 50-second-long and unforgettable prelude, the attender doesn't lose interest.
Changing the humor of the record album is the next song named "Thok de killi". Sung by Sukhwinder Singh, the fast-paced track is thunderous, rustic and yet remarkable. The augmented speed and increase in the tempo towards the end offers up an adrenalin rush.
Then there is "Ranjha ranjha" that is a normal track sung by Rekha Bhradwaj and Javed Ali.
Next is "Khilli re", a leisurely, soft love song, which discloses the wish of a woman for her lover. Crooned by Reena Bhardwaj in her engaging melodic voice, it has a pleasant effect and the tune strikes a chord with the hearer.
Lastly, there is a marriage song "Kata kata". The thrashing beats and sturdy orchestration can make it a smash hit. Sung by Ila Arun, Sapna Awasthi and Kunal Ganjawala, the track has a festive tune and a Rajasthani folk touch.
Overall, the album is a melodic treat and impresses comprehensively. The film will hit theatres on June 18. (With Inputs from Agencies)
