Washington, Nov 25 : Rachel McAdams, Taylor Kitsch and Kelly Reilly are set to star in the second season of HBO 's ' True Detective.'

According to the Hollywood Reporter, while McAdams would play the female lead, detective Ani Bezzerides, Reilly and Kitsch would fill in the supporting roles of the 8-episode sophomore season of the show.

The series, which is currently in production in California, centers on 3 police officers and a career criminal, who must steer a web of conspiracy in the aftermath a murder.

The show also stars Colin Farrell as Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective, Vince Vaughn as Frank Semyon, the career criminal, while Reilly would play his wife Jordan, who's a former D-list actress who is a full partner in his enterprises and ambitions.

The season, which would be helmed by a bunch of directors, including Justin Lin, after the departure Cary Fukunaga, would be penned by Nic Pizzolatto. (ANI)
