Sahara group chairman Subrata Roy is associated with Pune city longtime back almost decades ago, when he purchased 10,000 acres of land in Ambavane village in the tourist town of Lonavla.

The company has transformed this desolate land into a lavish city called Amby Valley city.

During the selection process for bidding, he opted for Pune team; he said that he had chosen Pune because of his emotional bonding with the city.

Throughout auction, Roy was emotional and desperately wants to win Pune team for the next IPL. He finally won the bidding at Rs. 1, 702 crores.

He had visited Pune on Saturday just to feel the win in the winning city. He was also presented the keys of the city by Suresh Kalmadi, president of the Indian Olympic Association, at Radisson Hotel, Kharadi.
