Dell Inc. unveiled a prototype of a small slate computer that the company could be releasing to the market this year, exploring yet another type of a computing gadget which has been designed specifically for users who are constantly on the move.

The "so-called" slate and tablet computers are the hot topic of discussion at this year's Consumer Electronics Show, which is currently in progress in Las Vegas, and most of the anticipation has been about the rumored tablet from Apple Inc. that could be unveiled before January ends.

The Dell slate computer showcased at the show has a 5 inch screen and runs on Goole's Android mobile OS platform, no other details about the machine have yet been shared by the company. Also, no specific dates with regards to the release of the smartphone-like gadget have been shared.

Dell is reportedly experimenting with various different screen sizes for tablets and PCs. "We have a few of these things in the lab", said Michael Tatelman, Vice President of Sales and Marketing in Dell's global consumer group, while declining to share any other information.
