Promoters increase stake in Indian IT companies

IT-SectorA look at the Indian IT companies of late would suggest that the shareholding pattern of these companies has undergone a change.

The pattern suggests that the promoters of these companies have decreased their stakes. The same has happened in Infosys, TCS, Wipro and HCL along with others.

But the sharpest decline has been in promoter's stake in TCS. Here the promoters, Tatas have sold off nearly two percent of their stake. Now their holding in the company is 74.12 per cent as against 76.21 per cent earlier. The same has been followed by the business family in Tata Steel and Tata Motors as well.

Analysts believe that this step has been taken so that more liquidity could be infused into the companies. And selling stake was the easiest option in front of the promoters.

As for Infosys, the promoter holding is already low. And analysts believe that there is no reason to worry since the promoters are more varied as compared to TCS or Wirpo, where the wealth goes into one family only.

Anyway, the investors need not worry since the change is minor and these kind of changes do happen.
