Profit sought by Kiwifruit growers
As per the media reports, profits for kiwifruit growers for last season's crop increased by 11%.
Zespri said that it was committed to deliver profits per tray as a minimum of 65 cents high on the last year however it has managed to deliver an average increase of 75 cents.
For the year ended in March, the company has reported an after tax profit of almost $24 million.
Chief Executive Lain Jager says Zespri generated record profits in its key markets. With record sales of 60 million trays of kiwifruit Europe remains the largest market.
Mr. Jager explained that tropical-tasting Gold kiwifruit has been a success story, as its flavors target an only one of its kind set of consumers who wish a sweeter more tropical taste.
