Prices close mixed on the Chicago Board of Trade

Prices close mixed on the Chicago Board of TradeAs U. S. equity markets soared and the dollar index fell 0.21 percent, prices closed mixed on the Chicago Board of Trade on Monday.

Corn was off 1 3/4 to up 1/2, soybeans were up 1 to up 1 1 1/2, wheat was off 14 1/2 to off 17 3/4 and oats were off 5 1/2 to off 5 4/6.

Although the U. S. Department of Agriculture said corn planting remains well ahead of its five-year average, corn futures were gained sharply on wheat.

It was also reported that the weekly crop report lists 73 percent of the winter wheat crop in fair to excellent shape, a fall from 93 percent a week ago.

The report further noted that soybean planting is 30 percent done with the crop 7 percent emerged, both ahead of historic averages. (With Inputs from Agencies)
