President calls for improved privileged partnership with Mexico

President Pratibha PatilMexico City, Apr 18 : President Pratibha Patil urged the people of Indian origin living in Mexico to help in developing the privileged partnership between the two countries. Addressing the reception hosted by Indian ambassador in Mexico Rinzing Wangdi, the President said, "Indian community settled in different parts of the world are making an important contribution to the economy, life, culture and social values of the nations. I am also pleased to learn that this is true also of the Indian community in Mexico."

Expressing hope that India's business expertise and investment benefit the economy and people of Mexico, the President said that through the presence of the Indian community, India's values would get better known in Mexico.

Describing Indians as 'law-abiding' citizens, she said, "We are known to enrich cultures and add to diversity without damaging harmony. India's age-old values encourage inclusiveness while preserving own traditions. This is our strength."

As both governments seek to promote bilateral relations that depend on goodwill and friendship between people, she emphasised the importance to expand contacts in different fields like culture, education, tourism and film and television. (ANI)
