Power outage might affect several Michigan residents
Experts have said that a power outage is likely to affect thousands of residents in the southeastern Michigan region.
Fast winds at 60 mph were recorded in the area on Sunday disrupting power supply to more than 100,000 homes and businesses. As the engineers and repair crew work to restore power in the region, the customers will have to face low temperatures without reliable power supply.
DTE Energy said that more than 40,000 of its customers were without power today in southeastern Michigan, compared to 120,000 customers at a point of time earlier. The company said that 50 line workers from Michigan, Ohio and Indiana were working to restore power supply to the customers on Sunday and a further 200 workers are set to begin work soon.
Weather forecasts shows that chilly winds of below zero temperature are likely to be on Monday and Tuesday nights. DTE said that about 90 per cent will have power supply by today evening while some outages are likely to continue into Tuesday for some customers in the area. The company agreed that the severe weather is affecting repair work to some extent but the workers are working to ensure that the power supply is restored soon.
