Cairo  - Palestinian officials holding talks in Egypt on ending divisions among the various Palestinian groups said Tuesday that talks between all Palestinian groups are to resume at the end of next month.

Egypt is to hold separate talks with individual Palestinian factions throughout the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which starts September 1, Mohamad al-Hindi, a senior official of the Islamic Jihad group, told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa.

Tbilisi  - President Mikheil Saakashvili Tuesday urged Georgians to pursue "peaceful resistance" to Russia after Moscow's decision to recognize South Ossetia and Abkhazia as independent.

Georgia could rely on international support, as there was no legal basis to the decision announced by Russian President Dimitry Medvedev earlier in the day, Saakashvili said in an address on state television.

"Now everyone knows that the Russian leadership respects no laws and is not deploying peacekeeping troops," he said.

Denver, Colorado  - A federal attorney will discuss later Tuesday details of the arrest of three men in connection with what authorities believe could have been a threat against presidential candidate Barack Obama, officials said.

In a statement earlier Tuesday, US Attorney Troy Eid said federal police were working "hand in glove" with local police in Aurora, a town on the outskirts of Denver where the initial arrest of a man with firearms and drugs took place.

But Eid sought to allay fears that there was a serious threat.

Prague  - The Czech Republic Tuesday joined the worldwide condemnation of Russia's recognition of Georgia's breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, calling the move illegal, the Czech Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"The Czech Republic perceives this decision as an attack on the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia," the statement said.

Warsaw  - Poland on Tuesday called for respect for Georgia's territorial integrity after Russia recognized the former Soviet satellites two breakaway territories, fueling a recent conflict in the region.

Poland still awaits international dialog on the two regions and solutions that will guarantee "lasting security," said a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Any steps taken outside that plan are met with "deep disapproval and concern" from the international community, the Ministry said.

Washington, Aug 26: US ambassador to the UN Zalmay Khalilzad, who is an Afghan by birth, has reportedly been pulled up by US State Department officials for unauthorisedly establishing contacts with Pakistan’s presidential hopeful and PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.

The conduct by Khalilzad has raised eyebrows because of speculation that he might seek to succeed Hamid Karzai as president of Afghanistan. Though, Khalilzad himself has denied of having any such plans.
